A Tonne of Asafoetida gum Exported to Persian Gulf Region

About one thousand kilograms of Asafoetida gum, with the value of 20 thousand dollars, has been exported to other countries since the beginning of this year.

General manager of Fars province’s Customs said, “About one thousand kilograms of Ferula asafoetida plant, with the value of 20 thousand dollars, has been exported to other countries since the beginning of this year.”

Khodadad Rahimi added, “This plant is exported to India and countries of the Persian Gulf region.” Medicinal plant expert of Fars province’s Agriculture Jihad Organization said, “Ferula asafoetida is cultivated in one thousand, 110 hectares of Fars province’s agricultural lands.”

Heshmatollah Sadeghi went on to say, “This plant is mostly cultivated in Abadeh county as well as Neyriz, Eqlid, Sarchahan-bakhsh of Bovanat county.”

The extract from Ferula asafoetida has medicinal applications and it is used for the treatment of neurosis in children, lowering hypertension as well as treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Ferula asafoetida plant is cultivated in over one thousand hectares of agricultural lands and natural resources of Fars provinces.
