Iran’s 20 Billion Dollar Capacity for Medicinal plants’ Trading Development

Iran is capable of making 10 to 20 billion dollars from trading medicinal palnts.

Secretary for National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine, Vice-presidency for Science and Technology, stressing the need for cultivation and production chain in the field of medicinal plants, added, “Iran is capable of making 10 to 20 billion dollars from trading medicinal palnts.”
Stating the necessity for the industry of medicinal plants to be globalized, in a meeting between the intermediaries of Iran’s provinces and the National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine, Vice-presidency for Science and Technology, Mohammad Hassan Assareh went on to say, “Iran has the capacity to make 10 to 20 billion dollars from trading medicinal plants.”

He said, “Medicinal plants are the best treatment practices and a native method in our country, since we have been masters of this science for thousands of years. These days, our art is to return to the native resources.”
Assareh stressed the need for cultivation and industry chain, then added, “Cultivation, without industry, is meaningless. Therefor, if we do not consider the medicinal plants’ cultivation chain and its multidimensional, we do not gain any results. We need to look at this industry as a chain and take into consideration all the sections of this industry.”
Secretary for National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine, Vice-presidency for Science and Technology, indicated that the first ring of this chain is the availability of standard seeds and saplings, then added, “Other rings of this chain include, the production of essential oil with various consumptions by middle-market manufacturers and downstream industries.”
He further stressed that unless these infra-structures form in our country, we will not be able to have vast productions. He also said, “Traditional medicine is expanding quantitatively and each province wants to have a university of traditional medicine, but first we need to study the graduates, the future and the results of their presence in this field.”
