On the occasion of tree planting week, by planting 40 varieties of tree species, shrubs and medicinal plants, the first stage of Zagros Botanical Garden was opened in Razi University of Kermanshah.

In the ceremony, the head of Razi University of Kermanshah said, “We are happy to say that managers in natural resources and Agriculture Jihad Organization, consider the university as the center to the province’s development, and today, having opened this garden, which symbolizes the nature of Zagros, we will commence the stepping stone and grow the very first saplings.”

Dr. Ibrahim Alami Aal Agha added, “Today, the development of the country is by neglecting natural resource and soil capacities, which has lead to a lot of issues.  So many dams have been constructed and actions done accordingly. However, having done all that, in a more comprehensive look, we realized that there is need to re-evaluate things.”

According to the head of Razi University of Kermanshah, one of the issues in the sustainable development, is to focus on the nature’s capacities in development. If this development is not comprehensive, the obstacles that  will ensue, are those that bring about adverse results.

Alami Aal Agha further noted, “In terms of development, having one-sided view can never be effective. However, there needs to be a comprehensive outlook on things based on different skills and specialties.”

He expressed his appreciation that the university is being acknowledged by Iran’s officials, “In the knowledge-based economy, the center for reflective thinking is no place other than a university, and there is such hope that the officials of this province are diverting their attention to this matter even more. However, there is still more need for convergence.”

Referring to the governor’s regard for the capacities and capabilities of the university, head of Razi University of Kermanshah said, “We are hoping that by opening this garden, in Razi university, it is added to the botanical understanding of Zagros as well as growing  vitality of these natural blessings.”
