The value chain is a combination of activities which take place in an industry, like a chain which leads to value. According to the antecedent views, each company has a place in the value chain. Suppliers provide the inputs, the company adds value to the inputs, which then transfers them to the next agent until eventually they reach the customers. However, at the moment, in large corporations this chain is included in one big united collection.
The value chain of an industry is a simple, powerful and effective device, which defines position, power and distribution. Simply said, this chain is a plan of an industry with all its players, from producers of raw materials to retailers.
