Establishment of Five Medicinal Plants’ Export Terminals

The director of Medicinal Plants Department of Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, Peyman Yousefi Azar, said, “The first medicinal plants’ export terminal is being established in Fars province by a private sector and so far there has been 20 percent improvement.”
He determined the role of these medicinal plants’ terminals in the market development of the products as important and predicted, “The establishment of the terminal in Fars province will be completed within the next two years.”
Of the problems of medicinal plants’ export, Yousefi Azar pointed out the absence of the processed medicinal plants and said, “Regarding medicinal plants we need to focus on the market and have a stronger presence in the global market.”
He also requested from the private sectors and the traders to be further active in the field of medicinal plants’ export.
The director of Medicinal Plants Department of Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture Jihad said, “The main destinations for Iran’s medicinal plants are European countries specially Germany, as well as The United Arab Emirates.”
According to him, the global economy in terms of medicinal plants and industrial crops is growing and “It is almost 20 years since it has been turned into a huge global economy and separate and distinct industry. In the near future, there is going to be a department for medicinal plants in our country to systematize the production, processing and export of these products.”
Yousefi Azar concluded, “There is a strategy and a road map to systematize and develop medicinal plants’ exports.”
