Cultralization Comes to the Aid of Medicinal Plants Development

A need for a work group for promotion and culturalization in the field of medicinal plants as well as  the use of the capacity of Ministry of Education for the promotion of the importance of medicinal plants for students who are in elementary and middle school, led to the formation of a work group in the National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine, for the culturalization in the field of medicinal plants.

According to Mehr News Agency quoting Vice-presidency for Science and Technology: culturalization is an important issue in expanding the use of medicinal plants as well as herbal-based medicine. For this reason, National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine, Vice-presidency for Science and Technology formed a work group to pursue the promotional policies in this field in four different groups.

The work group formed in the Council takes into account the promotion, and public as well as professional notification of medicinal plants and traditional medicine industry, which are based in the strategies of promotion and culturalization in National Document of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine.

The work group addresses a variety of people. Overall, these people can be divided into four categories of students, university students, managers and the public. 

National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine, Vice-presidency for Science and Technology has defined various aims for this work group, one of which is the use of the national media, the support of informing people through public as well as the professional media, and holding national as well as international exhibitions in the field of medicinal plants.

To achieve the goals and with the help of this organization, extensive plans have been implemented. Holding of student contests is one of the many plans. 

Promotion of Healthy Diets and Lifestyles

Culturalization and attitude reform of the society in respect to traditional medicine as well as promotion of healthy diets and lifestyles, based on the teachings of this medicine, are other issues that need to be addressed.

Preparations and compilation of sections of the basics, values, culture and traditional medicine heritage in the curriculum and students’ books, is another responsibility of this work group.

Planning, compilation and implementation of programs for distinctive groups and sources of traditional medicine as well as traditional pharmacology, in order to play a role in public awareness and promotion of healthy lifestyles based on Islamic teachings compatible with traditional medicine; are part of the aims of this work group, in line with the policies of National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine.

Also, promotional programs in line with culturalization will be held as public educational programs, using the capacities of the national media, mass media, mosques, religious places, health centers as well as other public places.

Observing Six Health Principles of the School of Traditional Medicine  

The following are other plans included in the work group’s agenda: promoting the six health principles of the school of traditional medicine among all the communities of the society, planning and promoting health standards of mothers and children according to Islamic teachings compatible with traditional medicine, studying and promoting the basics of sexual health of the society based on the Islamic teachings and in line with traditional medicine, and finally forming available traditional medicine databases, also establishing registration system of traditional medicine and offering medicinal information. 

National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine, Vice-presidency for Science and Technology has implemented several technological plans in this field, throughout the country. At the moment, hundreds of creative, technological, start-up, knowledge-based companies are active in the herbal medicine industry.
