Balanced Development in Medicinal Plants in All Provinces is  Significant

Secretary for National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine, Vice-presidency for Science and Technology, Dr. Mohammad Hassan Assareh, said, “It is of great significance for us that medicinal plants should develop in all the provinces of our country.”

According to a report by public relation of Vice-presidency for Science and Technology, the 82nd meeting of the National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine of Vice-presidency, hosted by National Network of Research and Technology in Medicinal Plants was held in Shahid Beheshti University, Sheikh Bahaie Hall of The International Conferences Center. In this meeting, those present dealt with science and technology indexes, observation and monitoring, as requested in National Strategic Document of Medicinal Plants.

The Secretary for National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine, Vice-presidency for Science and Technology, in the 82nd meeting of this council said, “The word ‘medicinal plants’ sometimes needs to be used as ‘industrial plants’, since it includes other relavent industries such as perfumery, natural flavors, natural colors, health and cosmetic industries, etc.”

Dr. Mohammad Hassan Assareh,the Secretary for National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine, referring to the activities of different provinces in the field of medicinal plants, added, “All the provinces’ activities in this field are of great importance to us, and it is the council’s responsibility to be present in all the parts of the country which have relative advantages over others, and support the innovative activities of the tech companies.”

For instance, in line with the aforementioned, he pointed out that Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, have started  some activities with people’s presence and have been able to cultivate several economic plants, as well as establish public contribution in the field of natural resources.

Assareh added, “There are also similar plans, in the north of Iran, regarding the cultivation of medicinal plants with similar methods. Plants such as the Iranian Echium amoenum, which is very important and promising.”

The Secretary for National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine expressed hope that with public  participation in the field of medicinal plants, we are witnessing an expansion of areas under cultivation more than ever, in a way that apart from the exploitation of resources, we should endeavor to have sustainable system and maintain the environment.

Later in the meeting, the secretary of Roadmap Study of Medicinal Plants Council, Dr. Hossein Motefaker, said, ” These days, the western countries are doing research on medicinal plants of the  oceans  in order to have no competitors in the world in the field of medicinal plants. Therefore, we need to show more consideration for medicinal plants.”

Furthermore, Dr. Mohsen Bigdeli, an activist in the field of phytochemistry, spoke of the advantages of Moringa peregrina  tree and explained, “A lot of research has been done on this tree, to the point that a new German company has recently expressed willingness to develop and cultivate this tree, and right now, we are in the negotiation stage.”

In another part of the meeting, the decree for Dr. Amir Hossein Jamshidi as a secretary of Iranian Council of Study and Development of Herbal Medicine, was given to him by Dr. Assareh. This position was communicated by Vice-president for Science and Technology, Dr. Soorena Sattari.
