On-the-Job Training with Iranian Traditional Medicine Teachings, for the Empowerment of Health Care Professionals

In order to empower the health care professionals, vice-presidency for Traditional Medicine of Ministry of Health and Medical Education is planning to hold on-the-job training courses based on Iranian traditional medicine teachings.

These training courses held since 2013, are based on the most applicable medical topics and are taught by faculty members of medical universities. Two courses entitling “Hair and Skin Care from Iranian Traditional Medicine Viewpoint” and “Role of Nutrition in Losing Weight (explanation for obesity from Iranian Traditional Medicine Viewpoint)”, have been held so far in the current year and have been greatly received by the staff, students and other health and treatment fellow members.
The vice-president for Traditional Medicine of Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Dr. Mahmoud Khodadoust, in the sideline of these courses said, “The best tool for spreading the Iranian Traditional Medicine Teachings and benefiting from the experiments of scientists in this field, is to present the applied teachings to all the medical experts. One of the aims of the National Document for Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine which has been approved by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution is to teach and promote the science of traditional medicine. Furthermore, the teaching and promotion of this science is the 12th policy notified by the Supreme Leader, in the form of general health policies.
Evidently, the continuation of these traditional medicine empowerment courses depends on how well they are received by health care policy makers and medical and paramedical students.
