The secretary for National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine announced that 94 knowledge-based companies exist in the field of medicinal plants, herbal medicine, natural and traditional medicine products, he then added, “These companies have manufactured 586 knowledge-based products.”
The secretary for National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine, Dr. Mohammad Hassan Assareh, said, “The data for 350 companies who are active in medicinal plants, herbal medicine, natural and traditional medicine products and packaging, have been registered in this council, after some review, 94 of these companies have been certified as knowledge-based companies.
Pointing out that some of these companies are classified as industrial and manufacturing companies, he said, “These companies use all their capacities and power to present the society with great quality products.”
Assareh referred to supporting these knowledge-based companies and added, “Among the advantages given to these knowledge-based companies are bank facilities and tax exemption. Some knowledge-based companies benefited from these exemptions in 2014 and 2015.”
The secretary for National Council for Science and Technology Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine stated, “Another advantage for these knowledge-based companies is that if they have exports to other countries, they are exempted from customs duties.”
Supporting Knowledge-based Companies for their Successful Participation in International Markets
He stressed that this council is endeavoring to provide appropriate conditions for these knowledge-based companies to participate in international exhibitions, hence preparing the ground for their products to be exported to global markets.
“In order for the knowledge-based companies to successfully enter the international markets, they need to manufacture creative and innovative products, crucial for the market, doing so not only do they rival with others, but they can also prevail in good part of the market.” Assareh added.
“In order for the knowledge-based companies to survive, they need to have a strong R&D,” he said, “using their money resources due to the tax exemption, these knowledge-based companies should be able to develop research, prepare instruments and equipment, and benefit from the university elites and professors.”
He further stressed that if that does not take place, their rivals can take their domestic or international shares and gradually these knowledge-based companies will be eliminated.
