The Increase of Up to 109 Percent in the Export of Liquorice from Fars Province

The director general of Fars province Customs said, “The export of liquorice from Fars province to foreign countries has had an increase of up to 109 percent.”

The director general of Fars province Customs noted, “One thousand 387 tonnes of liquorice extract and powder, with the value of 6 million 435 thousand dollars have been exported from Fars province to foreign countries, since the beginning of this year.”
Rahimi added, “In comparison with last year’s similar time period, this amount of export has had 109 percent increase in terms of weight.”
Fars is the most important province in the country to produce liquorice and on average, it produces 6 thousand tonnes of it in 7 factories of the province.”
The liquorice extract produced in Fars province is exported in the forms of powder, solid and liquid to countries in the Persian Gulf region, Japan, Germany, Italy, India, France, Belgium and Australia.
Liquorice is a wild medicinal plant which is used in pharmaceutical, confectionery and beverage industries.
