Two MPNET Specialized Labs, Among the Top 20 Laboratories in Iran

According to the results announced by Iran High-Tech Laboratory Network, two specialized laboratories in medicinal plants are among the top 20 labs in the country.

Based on a report by the public relations of Vice-presidency for Science and Technology, regarding the development of the laboratory services all over the country, Sorena Sattari, Vice-President of Science and Technology said, “Among the network’s considerable achievements in the development of lab services in the country,  we can point out the 60 percent increase in the number of services provided by the members of Iran High-Tech Laboratory Network of Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology, as well as the 88 percent rise in the revenues of these centers in comparison with that of 2015.”

He added, “Lab centers’ performance evaluation  in 2016, was the criteria of the new ranking conducted by  Iran High-Tech Laboratory Network of lab centers of Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology .”

According to Sattari, by the end of 2016, 204 laboratories from universities, public and private research centers were fixed members of Iran High-Tech Laboratory Network, 185 of which, participated in the performance evaluation in 2016.

He said, “Last year, the centers that are members of the network, provided over 50,000 clients such as researchers, university students and the country’s industries with approximately 600,000 lab services , which made about 752 billion rial in revenue.”

Vice-President for Science and Technology went on to say, “One of the main developments has been what  Iran High-Tech Laboratory Network customer club implemented, in terms of recruiting students and academic members in order to provide them with lab services by the members of the network.”

Pointing out that at the moment, Iran High-Tech Laboratory Network has lab members in all the provinces of Iran, Sattari added, “About 30 percent of the network members are among the private sector laboratories, 40 percent among universities and research centers related to Ministry of Science, 7 percent from Ministry of Health and Medical Education, 7 percent from Ministry of Agriculture Jihad and the rest from other ministries.”

Head of National Elites Foundation said, “Among all the services provided in 2016, about 900,000 services were provided by the private sectors, about 430,000 services by research centers, 191,000 services by universities of the Ministry of Science and 138,000 services by universities of Ministry of Health and Medical Education.”

He stressed that it is of great importance that private companies that provide lab services, are placed among the top 20 centers of the network. He further noted, “Among the top 20 members of the network, 5 centers are from private sectors, and 10 from Ministry of Science.”

In the ranking of Iran’s laboratories in all the fields, Medicinal Plants and Drugs Research Institute of Shahid Beheshti is placed at 19 and Iran’s Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands is placed at 20. These two institutes are the prominent members of National Network of Medicinal Plants Laboratories under the management of National Network of Research and Technology in Medicinal Plants.
