Possibility of Tenfold Increase in Farmers’ Income, with Medicinal Plants’ Cultivation

Minister of Agriculture Jihad said, “We must change the high traditional demand which is based on selling raw products, to commercial demands of the processed products with high added value.”

According to a report by ISNA Receiving News Group, in a visit to the medicinal plant company, Green Plants of Life, Mahmoud Hojjati said, “We must change the high traditional demand which is based on selling raw products, to commercial demands of the processed products with high added value.”

He added, “Some medicinal plants can increase the farmers’ income up to tenfold and in comparison to other agricultural products, reduce the water use to one third.”

Hojjati noted, “Provided that there is a demand, an appropriate mechanism for the demand will be found, and the procedure will begin.”

This Minister of Agriculture Jihad went on to say, “Considering Iran’s unique properties regarding medicinal plants and the public as well as the world’s reception of these products, we can benefit from this field in areas such as employment, producing wealth and bringing foreign exchange to the country, which are all part of the plan of resistive economy.”

Referring to the fact that stimulating and increasing demand as well as processing knowledge-based products trigger the engines for medicinal plants’ chains, Hojjati added, “The industries of processing, packaging and commercializing products of medicinal plants’ chains, will all bring an increase in the employment, business and added value.”
