Grounds Prepared for Export of Iranian Herbal Medicine to Europe and Asia

Vice minister of Traditional Medicine of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education said, “Iranian herbal medicine will be exported to the 22 countries which have interactions with South Korea, as soon as they get a permit from South Korean Food and Drug Administration.”

Referring to the agreement signed between Iran and South Korea, in an interview with IRNA, Dr. Mahmoud Khodadoust stated, “Most of these 22 countries are located in either Europe or Asia, and South Korea has signed an agreement regarding the export of herbal medicine with every single one of them.”

He further noted that there has been positive interactions with South Korea so far this year and the grounds for the export of herbal medicine have been prepared, he then added, “This country has shown willingness to arrange the necessary conditions for the export of Iranian herbal medicine after we receive a permit from South Korean Food and Drug Administration.”

“According to this agreement, a knowledge-based company has been chosen as a broker of this plan and together with the collaboration of Korean Science and Technology Park, they have developed the business plan for it.” Said Dr. Mahmoud Khodadoust.

He mentioned the advantages of this plan as being, the boost to the export of herbal medicine and the use of the advanced equipment in the Korean Science and Technology Park, and added, “Fortunately, suitable grounds have been provided for us for research and development in the field of herbal medicine.”

Vice minister of Traditional Medicine of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education went on to say, “Based on the agreement signed between the two countries, all the standardization and laboratory facilities of the Korean Science and Technology Park has been provided for our knowledge-based company.”

Khodadoust noted that next week a Korean team are to come to Iran to present the business plan developed in this regard then added, “This can facilitate the grounds for the export of Iranian herbal medicine.”

According to the managing director of Supervision of Natural, Traditional and Supplementary Products of Iran Food and Drug Administration, so far one thousand 839 natural and traditional herbal medicine products have received production permits, one thousand 342 of these permits are related to natural medicinal products and the rest are for traditional medicinal products.”
