One Thousand Hectares of Medicinal Plants Cultivation Development in Kermanshah Province, by the End of This Year

The director general of Natural Resources of Kermanshah Province indicated that one thousand hectares of medicinal plants cultivation development in Kermanshah province will take place by the end of this year.

The director general of Natural Resources and Watershed of Kermanshah province indicated that one thousand hectares of medicinal plants cultivation development in Kermanshah province will take place by the end of this year and said, “So far, 800 hectares of medicinal plants cultivation development in this province has taken place.”

In an interview with Mehr news agency, Morad Sheikh Veisi referred to the area of Kermanshah province being 2,453,600 hectares and said, “1,192,594 hectares of which consist of rangelands.”

He pointed out that 527 thousand hectares of Kermanshah province are covered with forests, and added, “In an attempt to fight against the phenomenon of dead oak trees last year, there were pruning of 20,000 hectares of dead oak forests in this province, and this year too, the same number of hectares are in the agenda.”

This official went on to say, “In 2014 and 2015, the administrative operations for the study of watershed in 583,802 hectares have been in the agenda in the Karkheh and Sirvan dam, and in order to control the basic sediments left from flooding based on watershed management and its flow towards rivers, using appropriate actions, up until this day, 137,412 hectares of this task have been achieved.”

Sheikh Veisi noted, “Last year, in the field of livestock grazing management, 681,000 hectares have been in the agenda in the long term plan, and by the end of this year 400,000 hectares of that will be accomplished.”

The director general of Natural Resources and Watershed of Kermanshah province stated,”In the department of cadastral survey receiving documents, to this day, 6,800 hectares have received national land documents and the government have received ownership on the lands.”

He said, “Also, regarding  the growth of 44 hectares of Atriplex saplings in the rangelands, which has been determined  to be fulfilled since last year, 40 hectares of saplings will be planted, by the end of this year.”

This official went on to say, ” 770 hectares of pit seeding  took place just last year and 500 hectares is on the agenda, by the end of this year.”

Concerning the finding of fertile national lands, Sheikh Veisi noted that 32,410 hectares of land have been transferred to the department of Land Affairs, and added, “Aligned with this issue, part of these national lands (4,222 hectares), have also been turned over to Housing Foundation of Islamic Revolution.”

“Last year, the annual forestry maintenance was 6,060 hectares on the agenda and 7,000 hectares of annual forestry maintenance will be done by the end of this year,” said the director general of Natural Resources and Watershed of Kermanshah province.

He then added,”Concerning the control of parasitic Loranthus last year alone, 30,000 hectares of land was determined and 20,000 hectares of which have been dealt with this year.”

“The medicinal plants cultivation development was 1,000 hectares last year,” he went on to say, “and so far this year, the cultivation development of these medicinal plants have been 800 hectares and by the end of this year, it will reach 1,000 hectares.”

Sheikh Veisi further noted, “One fire engine together with 15 small pick-up trucks equipped with water mix instrument have been prepared, in order to equip the first base of fire extinguishing safety unit of this province.”

The director general of Natural Resources and Watershed of Kermanshah province concluded, “Provided that the credit for better service is allocated promptly, there will be more appropriate actions taken in respect to putting out and controlling the fire, measures to prevent land degradation and optimization of forest and rangeland protection.”
