The National Network of Research and Technology in Medicinal Plants collaborating with Medicinal Plants and Drugs Research Institute of Shahid Beheshti University are holding an educational workshop on “the secondary metabolite production using hairy-root culture”.
Deputy minister of Ornamental Plants and Floral Affairs of Ministry of Agriculture Jihad noted that 94 percent of the world’s saffron is produced in Iran and that last year, 159 tonnes of saffron was exported.
Educational workshop on Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry was held by National Network of Research and Technology in Medicinal Plants, in Medicinal Plants and Drugs Research Institute of Shahid Beheshti University.
Assareh said, “In the near future, we will witness that the processed products from barberry, a medicinal plant, is going to enter the European markets, especially Germany.”
The deputy minister of Livestock Production of Agriculture Jihad, announcing that Iran has gained 8th place in the world in production of honey, went on to say, “Iran’s production of honey is 78 thousand tonnes, 5 thousand tonnes of which, is exported to the target countries”
The formal website of the Fifth National Congress on Medicinal Plants has been opened and it is prepared to accept the abstract of the papers.
Referring to the 8000 plant species in Iran, Moghanloo noted that 1727 species are endemic and 2405 species are endangered. She also added, “A large percentage of endemic and native species are among the endangered ones.”
Managing director of Winter Fruits Department of Ministry of Agriculture Jihad predicted that 260 thousand tonnes of pistachio will be harvested and said, “Iran is the biggest producer of pistachio in the world.”
National Network of Research and Technology in Medicinal Plants is holding a workshop with the aim of elevating the scientific and practical level of the country’s students, researchers and experts on medicinal plants.
