Professor Salehi Said: “Although we have 8000 varieties of plant species in Iran and a desirable manpower status, there is a missing ring in the field of basic standard materials from the viewpoint of plants and their extract.”
The manager of medicine and pharmacy work group of National Network of Research and Technology in Medicinal Plants, Dr. Seyed Faraz Mojab said: “We must try to export the processed medicinal plants instead of the raw ones.”
The book “Application of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in Landscape Design and Healing Gardens”, was published coincidentally with Tehran’s Twenty-eighth International Book Fair (April, 2015).
The ‘Second Meeting of Medicinal Plants Focal Points of Indian Ocean Rim Countries Association (IORA RCSTT)’, was held in India. The aim of this meeting was, standardization and setting the minimum quality standard requirements of medicinal plants and herbal medicines accepted by the regional states.
The secretary of National Network of Research and Technology in Medicinal Plants, Dr. Peyman Salehi, highlighted the necessity of standardization of medicinal plants products and said, “Standardization of plants aroma waters, natural essential oils and medicinal plants cultivation is currently being implemented.”
Medicinal plants and herbal medicine together are one vast chain, which start with the cultivation and collection of plants from different regions, and continue to several other procedures such as harvesting, storage and warehousing, pharmacy, food products, cosmetic and hygienic products, veterinary drugs, etc.

Dr. Valiollah Mozaffarian is one of the most famous botanists of Iran and a member of scientific board of Research Institute of Forests and Rangelands. The book of “Identification of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of Iran” was compiled by him and published by National Network of Research and Technology in Medicinal Plants.
The Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei in response to a question on collection of medicinal plants from nature said, it is only legitimate if the rules and regulations are observed, the necessary licenses are obtained and that the collection is not forbidden by Iran’s Department of Environment.
The Secretary of National Network of Research and Technology in Medicinal Plants, and the scientific secretary of the 4th National Congress in Medicinal Plants, Dr. Peyman Salehi announced that more than 2000 papers were sent to the secretariat of the Congress, 1200 of which, were accepted by the scientific committee.
